PHOTOS SHOWCASE CAMBRIDGE DIVERSITY
Local nonprofit celebrates community through photo gallery

CAMBRIDGE, MA- Every individual views the city of Cambridge through a unique lens. In an effort to capture this spectrum of perspectives, area university students have coordinated in a local photography exhibit. National Student Partnerships (NSP) introduces its third-annual Faces of Cambridge photo gallery. The event features the work of professional photographers from the community and nearby universities. NSP clients, often low-income and/or homeless adults, will also submit photos to showcase their unique viewpoint of Cambridge. The event is intended to unite Cambridge in appreciation and celebration of the many faces that make the community so diverse.

"It is our hope that the exhibit will encourage everyone to assume responsibility for a cohesive and inclusive community," says Joe Torella, Harvard University sophomore, and Co-Organizer of the Photo Gallery. "We hope to attract an even larger and broader sector of the city this year both to view the exhibit and to contribute photographs."

Proceeds from the event will fund NSP-Cambridge's Client Holiday Dinner, which provides their clients with the opportunity to enjoy an otherwise stressful time of year. The dinner celebrates the clients, featuring live music and holiday gifts.

The Faces of Cambridge Photo Gallery will be held on Saturday, December 3rd, 2005. The exhibit is set to take place from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Stebbins Gallery of Zero Arrow Street in Harvard Square. The event is open to the public, with a suggested donation of $10. Attendees will enjoy live music and light refreshments. For more information about NSP visit www.nspnet.org or www.cambridgestudentpartnerships.org. Founded in 1999, NSP is a student-driven volunteer service organization that links Americans in need with critical personal, social, and business resources to help them reach their goals. NSP operates a national network of 15 drop-in resource centers across the country, staffed by college student volunteers trained to work one-on-one with clients. Locally, Harvard University students have assisted community members for five years at the Cambridge Multi Service Center in Central Square and have expanded to a new office staffed by Tufts University students in Davis Square, Somerville.
